I want to wish a Happy Thanksgiving to my readers!
Of all the holidays I would say Thanksgiving is one that is very low on my totem pole in terms of relevance. Shouldn't we be thankful everyday and not just one day out of the whole year? The main problem with the holiday is that it emphasizes 1 day thankfulness and a ton of food consumption.
Thanksgiving is probably the one holiday that is "ultra American", and also portrays America in a negative light.

An Ignorant Rant By Kos Against Nader and Supporters
I'm not a big fan of the popular so called "progressive" (even though it's not) website called DailyKos, but every now and then I just check in to read some stories just to kill time. Today the founder of the site Markos Moulitsas made a mockery post about Nader:
I did not have a big problem with this, but certain questions did come into my head.2008: 695,446 (0.5%)
2004: 465,650 (0.38%)
2000: 2,882,955 (2.7%)The good news (for him), Nader increased his showing from 2004. The bad news (for him), like in 2004, he's still irrelevant (as are his supporters). The worst news, too bad he wasn't irrelevant in 2000. Yet through it all, Nader's ego never fails to amaze.
We believe history will treat the Nader/Gonzalez initiative kindly in part because its reading of the necessities of the American people was accurate as was its condemnation of the concentrated powers that have for so long denied them livelihoods of decency, security and voice.I doubt "history" gives a rats ass about the "Nader/Gonzalez initiative" (they used to be called "campaigns"), and after I hit submit "post" on this little piece, neither will I.
A) Why is Markos bringing up Nader if Nader is "irrelevant"?
B) If Markos dislikes Nader so much what is he doing on the Nader website?
So after about a couple hours I decided to check back at this post to read some more comments about Nader and I discovered this post by Markos:
I recently mocked Nader and his supporters, and claimed that would be the last I'd think of him. But then I got a bunch of whines like this one in my inbox:I guess Markos didn't get the "unity memo" from Barack Obama..."Fuck Ralph Nader, and fuck his supporters"? I let the first diary slide as a desperate diary because it was a slow news day, but this was uncalled for. I guess this is supposed to convince me to vote Democrat in 2012...Ha ha ha Diaries like this piece of garbage by Markos are exact reasons why the DailyKos community can't be taken seriously.I'll go ahead and disclose that I voted for Nader this election cycle. I felt that Obama did not do an adequate job to reach out to progressives, a point to which I have no doubt we deeply disagree.
Nader certainly deserved heavy criticism for his disgusting Uncle Tom remark. I have no qualms for the Kos treatment of him on that issue. However, today I read a post that labeled me "irrelevant." You are more than welcome to criticize Nader, his policies, and his methodology; however, to disparage the hundreds of thousands of people who voted for him and the hundreds of thousands more who would have if not for fear of the false choice of the two-party system is uncalled for.
It is for this reason that I will no longer read the Daily Kos. If the Kos were to issue a retraction or apology, I would quickly reconsider my decision, as the Kos is one of my favorite sites to visit.
Ha ha, yeah, that won't happen. Anyone who sails with the Nader crowd deserves nothing more than ridicule.
Fuck Ralph Nader, and fuck his supporters. If the past eight years hasn't smacked any sense into their addled brains, then nothing will. This site caters to the reality-based community. No one else need apply.
I'm just amazed that Ralph Nader is a topic of discussion by Markos after Barack Obama just kicked John McCain's ass to become the 44th President of the United States.
No more analysis of this garbage post.

Let's Give Barack Obama a Chance
Now that Barack Obama has been elected the 44th President of the United States and the first African-American president I think it's fair that we give him a chance to prove himself.
Any conservative/Republican that may be reading this post I'm talking to you! As someone who frequents Facebook I was surprised find out that an "Impeach Obama" was created within a day of Obama winning the Presidency. I was even more surprised to see the group had 4,000 members at the time, and now it's almost at 7,000. I think this is decent enough evidence that proves that Republicans are clueless about impeachment. They were clueless about proper grounds for impeachment in the late 90s with Bill Clinton, and they still haven't learned 10 years later. Can Barack Obama be President for at least 1 day before these ridiculous "Impeach Obama" groups start popping up? I guess that's too much to ask from divisive mud-slinging Republicans.
As for myself, I take no shame in voting for Ralph Nader, but I will give Barack Obama a chance to prove himself. That being said, I hope he gets criticized when he deserves to be criticized. I'll be curious to see what barometer Democrats will use to criticize his presidency. Will George W. Bush be the low bar and Bill Clinton be the high bar?
Barack Obama will have four years to deliver with a near filibuster proof Congress. Should he fail to uphold his promise of "Change" there is no doubt in my mind that he will be a 1 term President. Let's see what he can do.
