Michael Vick Will Play in the NFL Again

With the recent plea deal by Michael Vick in his dog fighting case everyone is so quick to say that he should be banned for life from the NFL. I agree that its way too premature to give him forgiveness right away even before he has begun his sentence no matter the length, but while we are so quick to say ban Michael Vick for life we are forgetting a man named Adam “Pacman” Jones.

The shooting that Pacman Jones was involved in during the NBA All-Star Weekend in Las Vegas in a nightclub was way worse than what Michael Vick did. Let’s be honest folks, being involved in harming human beings is worse than harming animals. Now given the fact that Pacman Jones had an arrest record prior to the Las Vegas shooting, and that NFL commissioner Roger Goodell handed Pacman Jones a a 1-year suspension it would be inconsistent of him to ban Michael Vick from the NFL for life on the charges known already.

Penalty Inconsistency

What should annoy a lot of people is the fact that Pacman Jones is getting a 1 year suspension and not anything longer. Not to mention the fact that the Tennessee Titans still want Pacman Jones on their team even with the arrest record Jones has. Remember Ricky Williams getting caught with marijuana in his system and being banned a year? Personally I do not understand how Pacman Jones and Ricky Williams get the same penalty. It simply does not make sense. Being caught with marijuana can not be possibly worse than the Las Vegas shooting incident.

So while I understand emotions are running high in this Michael Vick case, we must not forget the standard NFL commissioner Roger Goodell has already set. Goodell has already set a precedent when he dealt Pacman Jones his 1 year suspension. Unfortunately a lot of people and organizations like PETA will have to come to the realization that if Michael Vick still has the ability to play in the NFL after his sentence then he will play in the NFL again.
